ExpenditureDuration: 5D4N Singapore Airline: SG277.50 (budget airlines will offer a lower price) Accommodation: SG$101.50 Expenditure: SG$279 ( food and transportation only. I did not do much shopping) Total spent SG$658 Note: This trip is slightly higher than average spending. I did go to cafe and roof top bar which were more expensive. If you were to take budget airline and have food in local shop or night market, I believe your total expenditure will be lesser than the total amount I spent. TipsPUBLIC TRAIN

I visited Bangkok during 19-22Apr2018 For this blog, I will only post unique places which I visited (unique as in less touristy places ) Bangkok is well-known for its shopping malls and night markets. As these information can be easily obtained online hence I will not be sharing my shopping and night market experiences in this blog. So let me start with the inn I stayed in. The inn was having a free pick up promotion during our visit, hence we saved the time and money on transportation from the airport to the city. It took us 1 hour to reach the inn from the airport. We stayed in the inn for 5 day 4 night at the cost of SG$101.50 View of the LobbyOur room viewThe room is up to my expectation. Nothing to complain about. Breakfast SetupThe breakfast is the reason why I decided to write a post about this inn.
I really like its breakfast. I like its variety and the food tasted not bad. Don't get me wrong, the inn does not provide a huge variety of breakfast. Maybe about 9-12 main dishes (I do not remember. 9-12 dishes is that deemed as wide variety?) At least from my pictures, you get to know that if you were going to stay in this inn for 5 days, you were able to get 5 different dishes. Other items like bread, cereal, coffee and fruits are self service. Note: Breakfast pictures started from Day 2 as there was no breakfast on the day we checked in . Disclaimer: Some pictures credited by my travel companion Our first stop , Audrey Cafe Audrey Cafe des Fleur, EmQuartier The reason why I chose this particular outlet is because out of all the outlets, this outlet has the most beautiful and unique interior design. We ordered the highly recommended Baby Piaaza Tom Yam Kung (220btah) and Thai Milk Tea Crepe cake (125btah) and of course my caffeine drink, cappuccino (105btah) The pizza was made from thin crust, very crispy (but still able to hold the filling) The Tom Yam made the pizza very savoury. And each slice of piazza was topped with a slice of fresh prawn. The sweetness of the crepe was on point. The milk tea sauce made the cake a very unique dessert (I had never tried such cake in other places) The sauce was not heavy at all, slightly thicken, it would not made you felt remorseful after eating it. Overall this meal was a combination of salty, spicy, sweet and bitter. Note: Price subject to 10% service charge and 7% VAT Staffs are able to speak English. Direction It is located next to BTS Phrom Phong station. The Helix building, Level 8 Brief view of the cafe interiorThere is another section near the entrance. The section where this video was taken is more pretty. Rot Fai Market (Srinakarin)Rot Fai Market (Srinakarin)
To reach this place, you have to take a cab. You must tell the driver that you want to go to Srinakarin, if not he will be confused (there are two Rot Fai Market) I took a cab from On Nut station and it took me more than 20 minutes to reach this place due to heavy traffic. This market is big (as in space) I think it is because I visited the place on a Thursday hence not all the stalls were opened and the market was less pack. Although not all stalls were opened on the day of my visit, this is the night market which I enjoyed the most (my opinion) because it is less crowded, I was able to try some food without the need to join the queue and I can view everything without any obstruction. If you want to try the food or buy anything, I think this is a place for you to make the purchase. Other night markets may be too crowded for you to find a seat, or you will have to join the queue. My theory is, as this place is not easily access by BTS, hence there are less tourists. When there are less tourist, prices are less lightly to height up. Note; My food opinion is for reference only. Not everyone has the same taste and preference. I prefer highly seasoned food. Disclaimer: Some pictures credited by my travel companion While doing research you find there a few boat services. During my trip, I rode 2 types of boat. First is the boat which stops at Pier
* places that I visited The second boat, brought me across the river which cost 4 btah per way (have to pay separately) The boat company, Chao Phraya Tourist Boat ( travel pier to pier) offers single day at 50btah and full day ticket at 150btah. If you are visiting to more than 4 Piers in a day, the full day pass will be a better choice. If not, you can just buy one way ticket; a drawback is that you will have to queue to buy the ticket (but I do not think the queue will be very long, I did not take note of the queue during my visit) Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn) Take boat heading to Tien Pier (N.8), Wat Pho will be right in front of you. The place has many tall towers (in English called spire, In Thai called prang), decorated with tiny pieces of colourful glass and porcelain. With the clear blue sky and the colourful spire, it is a beautiful place to take pictures. Around Wat ArunGrand Palace & Wat Prakeaw Old City It is about 8-10min walk from the port/harbour (not pier) I am not sure is it worth a visit into the palace because after paying for the entrances frees, tourists were only permitted to walk around the palace and not allowed to enter into the premises/buildings. I intended to just view the palace from the outside, but it is surrounded by high wall hence it is not possible for visitors to take a peep from outside. For me, I think this is a skip. Wat Pho (temple) It is a few minutes walk from the port/harbour (not pier) The place were crowded with tourists. The place was very spacious hence I do not feel suffocated by the crowd Home Cafe Tha Tien It is a very small and cozy shop serving authentic Thai cuisine. The food were good. The milk tea was not very sweet. Total spent 305btah nett It is located near to Wat Pho Chinatown I have nothing much to share about this place. I did not explore the place extensively. From my short walk, this place is not like the Chinatown which I expected (nothing similar to Singapore's and Malaysia's) If you are interested in food, there are food carts located along the street, next to the road which you can try. We stumbled into this shop, while walking along the the outer street, next to the road (walking away from the pier direction) We were attracted by the food and the crowd hence we decided to give this shop a try. Glad to say, we were not disappointed. The food were good. We ordered braise pork and mixed organs soup (this shop severed pork dishes only) Total spent 130btah nett. Dinner at Sheepshank Public HouseSheepshank Public House The restaurant was located next to the pier, Phra Arthit, N13 It is an American style restaurant with a Factory ambience. The orange light made the restaurant looks cosy. We reached the restaurant at about 6.30pm and we got our seat without the need to queue. More groups of people entered the restaurant at the later time We ordered crab and apple salad in a creamy mustard dressing (220 baht), mushroom risotto with Lao ‘pine’ nuts (280 baht). Both dishes were good. The salad seem to be a popular dish, during our short dinning period, we saw quite a few tables ordered that particular dish. For its alcoholic drink, I am not satisfy with it. We ordered a beer and a cocktail (cannot remember the name) To me the two alcoholic drinks do not suit my preference, they were very bitter. One good point about this restaurant is that you can sample their beer first before ordering. Total we spent 1300btah nett for 2pax. Disclaimer: Some pictures credited by my travel companion
This day is a cafe hopping and shopping day (Platinum Mall, Neon Night Market ) Perhaps Rabbits’ This place just reminds me of Alice and the Wonderland. The menu selection was very limited. My friends and I ordered Snowy lychee mojito (140btah) Fluffy strawberry crumble (140btah) Rabbit hole mud cake (175btah) The 'mojito' (can they name this mojito when it is a non-alcoholic drink?) It tasted good just like lychee drink but it may be too sweet for some people. The strawberry drink is one of the popular drink, but I do not recommend this drink, it tasted super sweet. The cake tasted good. But too expensive for such a small portion. To me, the only selling point of this cafe is its interior design. Prices subjected to service charge. Featherstone Bistro Cafe & Lifestyle Shop I like the interior design of the café I did not managed to take any picture as the café was quite pack when I was there. You can google and check out the café’s instagram to find more stunning pictures. During my visit we ordered, Creamy Mushroom pasta (280 btah) Pescatore (350 btah) Mermaid drink (150btah) The drink was okay (it just taste like cabonated soda. The colour did not give the drink any extra taste.) The pizza and paste were delicious, highly recommend. Prices subjected to service charge and vat charge Cafe Surrounding ViewDisclaimer: Some pictures credited by my travel companion
