Foreigners who are used to eat in restaurants, may feel uncomfortable dining in food court or hawker centre. Seeing staffs using the same table cloth to clean several tables without washing. Staffs used bare hand to pick up the food on the table. Birds eating the leftover food (happen in hawker centre) etc. Disgusted? For years, locals have been eating in these places and they are still strong and healthy So if you are particular about hygiene and have to dine in these places then you may need to bring some wet and dry tissue. Note of comfort
Hawker CenterFood CourtBreakfast ShopPersonally I preferred Toast Box's coffee to Ya Kun's coffee, because the taste of the coffee is more consistent throughout the outlets.
For Ya Kun, the taste of the coffee usually did not meet my expectation. If you want to have a taste of the orginal coffee, I will recommend you to buy it from Hawker centre. The one at Toast Box is different from the one that locals usually drink. However the taste of the coffee from the Hawker centre may vary too, depending on the skill of the person who make it. |
