Total Expenditure
3300 (Room per pax)
4115.9 (transport incl, train, bus, cab, homestay owner's ride)
-----------------------
NY$7415.90
------------------------
This is the amount I spent on traveling to MiaoLi, Chaiyi, Nantou, Taipei
Note:
That was the first time I went for free and easy.
Now, thinking back, I think it is not worth to spend so much money on transportation.
So my advice is to travel to two to three places at one time.
For my Taiwan trip it seems more like a Minsu Experience then exploring the area.

Nearest train: Nantou Station南头
Expenditure
Room Rate: NT$3570
Room type: Queen
Visited: 23Apr2014
It is located at the tourism sight, QinJing,清静.
It is located in the middle of the mountain.
What attracted us to this accommodation, is its theme and environment.
Due to its latitude, it has a cool environment.
The homes-stay is designed according to European style.
A style which I love~
The room is well designed and further enhanced with antique radio and telephone.
In the bathroom, it has a wooden made bath tub which gave me an impulse to have a bubble bath.
At night my friends and I had spaghetti for dinner.
I cannot remember whether we were given a menu or not.
Even if we were, the variety should be quite limited.
Breakfast is in buffet style.
Limited food choices but sufficient to fill our stomach.
The selection includes a few types of bacon, eggs, egg tarts, home-made bread, white bread, milk tea and coffee.
If you want to view the sunrise,
there is a private red bus, which will bring you up to the mountain.
Note
You will have to pay for the bus ride
Because of the high latitude some people will have headache.

I like this home-stay because it gives me a cosy and homely feeling.
The staffs are friendly.
After we checked-in, they explained to us patiently about the time for each meal and the activities available (quite a long explanation)
Every season, the home-stay will organise different activities.
During summer it will organize some water activities.
During our visit it was spring where it is the fire-flies season.
It has the most fire-flies that I have seen during my Taiwan trip.
The reason behind this is there is professional taking care of the fireflies.
A night the staff brought us around the place, finding traces of the fire-flies.
During the activities we can collect stamps at each station and after that we can either exchange a wish ‘card’ or a badge.
Another activity is painting where we can choose either to paint a piggy bank or a chime.
It is a time where we showcase our creativity!
It was the activity which I like best.
That time I saw quite a few local families who brought their children for a day trip.
The room is clean and equipped with the necessary amenities.
You will have no decision over what to eat for my breakfast.
The staff will prepare for you.
A typical western breakfast, suits the appetite for all ages.

Transport, 2way: NY$1200 + NY$1600

It is located high up on mountain, near Alishan.
It has a cool climate.
The room is made from wood.
The colour of the room made me feel like I was in a villa.
Inside the room there is second level which is used as a bedroom.
Compared to the other home-stay that we stayed during the trip, it has the biggest and the most spacious bathroom.
The owners are friendly.
At night we had steamboat for dinner.
In the morning the owner prepared for us a Korean-styled breakfast (my opinion) where a few dishes are placed in several small, cute bowls.

Note:
- Unless you are going to explore Ahlishan, if not I don't think it is worth to travel such a distance.
- The owner does provide transport services from the train station with an extra charges
- Prepare some medicine in case of car sickness as there is going to be lots of curves and sudden brake
- Get prepared that you may find insects flying around your room
老英格兰 (Old England)
There is another resort which I would like to introduce to you guys.
The home stay is known as Old England 老英格兰.
By just looking at the name, you may already guessed the theme of the home-stay.
Yes, is old English style, with expensive sculptor, tiles and decoration which also mean high room rate!
Paying RM1500-2000++ for a room...to me that is too costly and staying in the home-stay for just the experience that does not worth the price.
However for those who have the financially ability and would like to experience it, you may try staying in this homestay.
For those who like to a look at this homestay and take pictues, from a hoteliers prospects, they would not stop you.
The Old England and Shangri-La home-stay are owned by the same owner

Room: NT$5950
Bed room type: 2 level, 2Twin, 1Queen

I am not sure what is the actual English name for this home-stay, maybe Shangrila/ Shangrila music villa?
Is located at QingJing.
A little bit further than Provence Rose Lodge.
This is a themed home-stay, Musical.
In the home-stay you will can find many music related decor, like sculptor of famous musician, musical instrument, CDs,
Hence there are quite many places suitable for pictures taking.
The room is nicely decorated.
The colour of the room makes it looks cosy and lively.
They have a spacious balcony which is ideal for an afternoon tea.
To me, besides the room, there is nothing wow-ing about this home stay.
But I can see the effort the owner put to align its environment to its theme.
When we reached the home stay, we had our afternoon tea first.
The dinning area is spacious and simple.
Music was played at the background
At night the kitchen was turned into a bar, where guests will be given a free cocktail.
The second glass will be charged.
For the breakfast, there is a main course and free-flow for milk and cereal.
The main course is delicious.
Especially the pickled tomato and the juice are awesome!
Note:
Extra charge is need if you wanted to have dinner for the stay.
